The four-mile-long Atlantic City Boardwalk is the world’s first and it remains the main attraction of this seaside city. The Boardwalk is where you’ll find most of Atlantic City’s hotels, resorts, shops, and casinos as well as several piers featuring amusement parks, museums, and cultural centres. A stroll down the boardwalk is a lovely way to spend an afternoon, but if you’re in a hurry, there are buses, taxis, and rickshaws that will speed you along your way.
The casino resorts on the boardwalk are lovely attractions in themselves but there are plenty of embellishments along the way worth viewing. Don’t miss the Monopoly Monument at the corner of Park Place and Boardwalk – the street names in the famous board game all come from Atlantic City. The 10-minute-long water show at The Pier Shops at Caesars is worth watching, especially at night when the fountains are lit up and set to music. A 228-step climb to the top of the Absecon Lighthouse is a great way to get an aerial view of the lovely Jersey coast and city. A short hop down the coast but well worth the trip to Margate is Lucy the Elephant, a huge building shaped like an elephant and built in 1881 to welcome mariners to the Jersey coast.
The Atlantic City Outlets, just behind Caesars, is another one of this resort town’s big attractions. Huge discounts and stylish brand names are on offer at these outlet and factory direct shops. Anchor stors include H&M, Banana Republic, American Eagle, DKNY, Aeropostale, Calvin Klien, and more. For more upscale shopping with brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, head to The Pier Shops at Caesars.
The Atlantic City beach is famous worldwide for its sun, sand, surf, and hard-bodied hotties. It’s the place to see and be seen in Atlantic City and the perfect place to frolic, play, tan, swim, or surf. The beach continues to the south of Atlantic City at other resort towns like Cape May or Ocean City, but Atlantic City is the only part of New Jersey where gambling is allowed.
