Lilly Rare Books and Manuscripts Library, (1200 E 7th St), more than 400,000 books; over seven million manuscripts and 100,000 pieces of sheet music. On permanent exhibit: the Gutenberg Bible, and John James Audubon's Birds of America prints.

Mathers Museum of World Cultures, (416 N Indiana Ave), over 20,000 objects and 10,000 photographs representing cultures worldwide. Special attention to Native Americans, Inupiaq and Yupik Eskimo materials, and Pawnee culture.

Museum of Science, Health, & Technology Wonderlab, (308 W 4th St) science education, hands-on exhibits, programs that stimulate curiosity, and encourage exploration for lifelong learning.

Bloomington Playwrights Project, (107 W 9th St), new original plays and theatre, often by local writers.

Brown County Playhouse (70 S Van Buren St), a 20 minute drive from Bloomington, in Nashville, Brown County, a 19th century artist colony. Performances from June to October, Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 pm; Sunday 3 pm.

Cardinal Stage Company (Buskirk-Chumley Theatre, 114 E Kirkwood), professional regional theatre company, classical and contemporary works, shows for young audiences, musicals, and new works.

IU Auditorium (1211 E 7th St), wide range of events includes Broadways productions, lectures, student events, conferences, and popular music concerts.

Jacob's School of Music/ Musical Arts Center (1201 E Third St), Indiana University state-of-the-art performance facility, eight fully staged operas each year, plus concerts and ballet. Also operates the Simon Music Center's Auer and Ford Halls.

Lee Norvelle Theatre/ IU Dept. of Theatre & Drama (275 N Jordan Ave), two musicals and six plays each year from the vibrant Indiana University theatre community.

Theatre of the People (various performance spaces) community arts organization, new and original performance art, new and old works in ensemble setting.  "Inclusive theatre" - no interested party is turned away; all who wish to participate are given some role.

The Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center and Kumbum Chamtse Ling Temple, 3655 Snoddy Road, Bloomington, IN 47401, 108 acres, 2 miles south of College Mall, near the Paynetown Recreation Area/ Monroe Lake. Open Sunrise to Sunset, the Kumbum Chamtse Ling Monastery, two Tibetan Stupas, retreat cottages, and a teaching pavilion, dedicated by the Dalai Lama. Also a Tibetan Butter Sculpture, a large library, and gallery of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Guided tours for individuals, or for groups, for a modest fee.
