Lecture: Video Since 1970, Part 1

March 9, 2013, 11:15 am. Just as photography was an exciting new medium in the mid-19th century, video was a new medium available to individual artists for the first time in the 1960s. Harnessing video's flexibility they express ideas of a new millennium.

Nickel City Opera - WNY's Premiere Opera Company

June 28-29 & 30, 2013 - Don Pasquale, an opera buffa, or comic opera, in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti. Founded in 2004, the Nickel City Opera is Buffalo’s only major opera company producing full-scale operas, complete with costumes, sets and a full orchestra.

Buffalo Bears & Leather:

Buffalo Bears is the den for gay bear communities of Western New York and Southern Ontario. The group sponsors hiking and camping trips, movie and dinner nights, parties and get-togethers among their many activities.

Buffalo Bulldogs are a Leather-fetish fraternal club for gay men and friends. Meetings are held each first Saturday at OHM Ultra Lounge. Parties they sponsor such as Leather Disco, Leather Pride, LeatherBears, underwear and uniform nights are also held at OHM.

Buffalo Gay Sports:

The Queen City Softball League has teams sponsored by most of the bars in town, playing most weekends from May through July.

The Buffalo Bashers Gay Hockey has been playing since 2002.

Buffalo Alternative Volleyball plays on Thursday nights (Sept. thru end of June), 6:30-9:30pm in the Maryvale Community Education Building,  777 Maryvale Drive, in Cheektowaga.

Imperial Court of Buffalo:

Doing noble deeds since 1990, they hold the big coronation bash in May, and have social events and benfits all year such as their Annual Spaghetti Dinner each October. Ongoing events include drag shows at Adonia's each Tuesday and Wednesday night.
