March 12, 2013. A place for writers to take center stage and give their work a chance to grow -- an ongoing event held on the second Tuesday of each month. Space and resources for emerging and veteran playwrights to develop new works, a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a supportive, yet critical environment.

Severance Hall (11001 Euclid Avenue)One of the Big Five of American orchestras, a source of great pride to the people of this city. Most performances take place at Severance Hall in the Universtiy Circle District. Completed in 1931 the building has one of the finest Art Deco interiors in the USA. Besides the Cleveland schedule the orchestra can be heard in Lucerne, Vienna, New York City, Miami, and on West Coast tours.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the city’s top draw, and with good reason. Its gorgeous building on the waterfront of Lake Erie is reason enough to visit. Keep up with events even if you can't visit - they live-stream public programs form their Foster Theater. See their website for details.

The Cleveland Museum of Art has over 30,000 works covering 5,000 years of civilization, from the civilizations of ancient Egypt to our present day. You can see 144 highlights of their collection, masterpieces from around the world, at their online exhiblt.
The Museum of Contemporary Art houses an impressive collection, and plans soon to move to a brand new building in University Circle. This summer exhibitions feature the works of two New Yorkers: Marilyn Minter, who examines the relationships between the body, photography, and painting, and taps into cultural anxieties about sexuality and desire - through August 14th; and Aïda Ruilova, mixing classical cinema, popular culture, avant-garde music, and a do-it-yourself aesthetic, using single channel videos to create an evocative, haunting, and dissonant environment - through August 15th.
The Museum of Natural History has a collection of over four million specimens in the fields of anthropology, archeology, astronomy, botany, geology, paleontology, zoology, and wildlife in general. Through August 29th they're featuring Wild Music the sounds and songs of life on Earth. They also have ongoing programs on conservation and sustainability - with classes and programs to help keep the song alive.
The Botanical Garden is a collection of various gardens that include the first US Children's Garden, a Japanese Garden, and Rose, Herb, Perennial and Woodland Gardens; plus tropical plants in their Glasshouse. Open every day except Monday.
A rotating Happy hour put on by a group called Gay Guys Happy Hour, known as G2H2, happens on the third friday of the month. 300 or so men convene at otherwise straight clubs. See their website for events and venues, announced 7-10 days prior.
The community-based organization "affirms the gay experience" with quality performances for diverse audiences. This largest gay chorus in the area has over 100 members and besides their concerts they have fund raising dinners and other events where you can meet and mingle with the singers. Playhouse Square (1519 Euclid Avenue)Houses the largest American performing arts center outside New York, bringing over a million guests to their more than one thousand annual events, at seven theaters on Euclid Avenue, downtown Cleveland. Stage productions include Broadway shows, concerts, dance performances, plays, comedy, opera, speakers, and family shows.
