Milwaukee has quite a few art galleries for a city of its size, but you can’t miss the Milwaukee Art Museum. Its soaring 110-ton steel wings are an incredible sight to behold. Inside, is a wide-ranging collection of European and American art, with particular attention paid to German expressionism and Haitian art.The unique new Grohmann Museum hosts more than 800 European and American paintings and sculptures in a “Man at Work Art Collection” which aims to document the evolution of organized work.
 

Milwaukee is famously one of the centers of the American beer industry, so when you’re downing your fifth Pabst, you can just say you’re taking part in the local culture. Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery offers tours of the 150-year-old former home of the brewery, as well as Captain Frederick Pabst’s magnificent mansion – admission includes a beer. You can take a tour of the still-functioning Lakefront Brewery, a smaller local brand renowned for its award-winning craft beers.
And because this community takes its beer really, really seriously, you can also check out the Museum of Beer and Brewing, dedicated to preserving and sharing the proud global history of beer brewing.
 

The fantastic limestone Cave of the Mounds is a National Natural Landmark and called the ‘Jewel Box’ of American caves by spelunkers for its rich, colorful formations. Guided tours of the cave pass a dazzling array of colorful crystal formations including stalactites, stalagmites, and columns, and through a functioning gemstone and fossil dig.

Harleys are one of the defining icons of Milwaukee. The company was founded here more than 100 years ago. This new museum showcases the history of Harley-Davidson motorcycles through photographs, posters, advertisements, clothing, trophies, video footage, and more than 450 display motorcycles including 10 you can sit on.

These unique glass-domed biomes are home to an incredible diversity of plant life from around the world. The domes are arranged to recreate different environments, with permanent arid desert and tropical domes and a flexible “floral show dome” for temporary exhibits categorized on historical, cultural, or fantasy themes. Milwaukeeans have been coming here for gardening ideas for the past 30 years.

Cruises along the Milwaukee River and the Lake Michigan shore are a fun way to get a different perspective on this scenic metropolis.
