Nun seeks eternal salvation for her mortal sin as cunning con artist seeks worldly riches in a double-bill of one-act operas by Giacomo Puccini, part of the trio known as Il trittico. A night of tender sentiment, laughter, and Puccini’s musical genius, including the beautiful “O mio babbino caro” aria.
Mid-August annual jazz festival weekend organized by the San Jose Jazz Society. Over 150 live performances on 12 stages, featuring a wide range of international stars, emerging artists and regional favorites playing straight-ahead jazz, blues, salsa, Latin, R&B, and more.
Third weekend in August each year, at Discovery Meadow Park on San Carlos Street.

California Theatre | Symphony Silicon Valley (345 S 1st Street)First opened in 1927 as a grand movie palaces with magnificent ornate Jazz Age décor, the building was shuttered for decades until a $75 million renovation between 1998 and 2004. The California reopened as a major landmark and 1,100-seat hall filled with modern amenities. Called one of the most beautiful theatres in the state, it is now the home to Opera San Jose and Symphony Silicon Valley, and plays host to the annual Cinequest Film Festival, among other concert and dance performances.
