Mozarthaus:

On January 27, 2006 – the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birth - this last surviving residence of the composer (among a dozen different addresses he had here) was opened to the public, at Domgasse 5. He lived at this address from 1784 to 1787 with it's grand first floor apartment of four large rooms, two small ones and a kitchen. Some of his happiest years were spent here where he lived longer than at any other address. During this time he was a celebrated composer with a wide circle of friends, giving concerts at the houses of Viennese nobility. His most popular opera The Marriage of Figaro was writtten here.
For a schedule of concerts of his music, lectures and museum tours here, see the website.

The Naschmarkt:

The Naschmarkt has long been a meeting point on the Linke Wienzeile (street) along the old banks of the Vienna River - from 1793 all fruits and vegetables brought to Vienna on carts were sold here. Today there are more than 120 market stands offering international culinary choices from Viennese to Indian to Italian and more. Fresh fruit and vegetables from around the world, exotic herbs, cheese, meats, seafood and baked goods including bread, kaiser rolls, and tortes are also for sale.

The Saturday flea market here is not to be missed; relax with a local beer and sit back for some great people-watching. The Naschmarkt area is within walking distance of many gay bars as well as Vienna’s most famous street, Mariahilferstrasse, the main shopping avenue.
